Last night, Caleb had an absence seizure. I was holding him and the nurse was checking his vitals and he starting staring. It seemed to last for about a minute. His body didn't move and he just looked lost. After he came to, he was pretty tired. The neorologist said that adults have the same type of seizure; however, children can have different kinds (which he now has had both grand mal and petit mal). He has been on Keppra since his 1st seizure; however, she said that he has more than likely outgrown his dosage. They started an EEG this afternoon to monitor his activity for 24 hours. He has been very agitated with the heavy head.
Caleb is sooo adorable and seems to be tolerating his new bonnet of gauze for the picture very well. I bet that is a handful to keep on him at this age :) I know you are concerned, however, Digoxin is the drug that almost all of the HLHS kids were taking after the Norwood in Will's day...that will help his cardiac function a lot more until the next procedure can take place. Many are on it for a while until their heart grows, accommodates, and becomes stronger after the Fontan. Makes good sense that he would be outgrowing his seizure med dosage by now with all the good pounds and ounces he has put on thanks to MOM! :) Stay as positive as you all are! Each day is new and each day is a blessing. What a strong boy!
